week 4 💪
Finally! We're almost half way through the semester! I'm not sure about anyone else but I feel like the days are just flying by..which I'm not mad at. This week was very stressful for me and I need to just get my feelings out/seek some advice. So first, it's my cousin's wedding today and I'm so excited because I'm a bridesmaid! But, in my culture, weddings are kind of a big deal and there's so much to get done. We get really dressed up and start early and rally throughout the night. We have different traditions like "dressing the bride" and certain songs as she gets ready, so basically we have to be ready early in order to make it there and participate. Also since I'm in the bridal party, I have to be there even EARLIER to get ready with everyone. I also had to attend the rehearsal dinner which was Thursday evening. I have a lab at the time so I had to switch and go to the 9 AM one. I'm glad it worked out and I got to switch because I was stressing about that thinking I'd either have to miss the rehearsal or class. I just wish it wasn't that early. Everything went well though and it made me even more excited for the wedding. My family from out of town are coming and even my cousin (the bride's brother, a family favorite) who is in medical school in New Mexico was able to fly in and make it for the weekend! I have a huge family and I love when we're all able to get together, it's so much fun. Everyday this past week I was running around dropping stuff off, picking things up, just like a chicken with it's head cut off or whatever they say! I know I was a big help though, so I guess it was worth it. I just had to find time to be able to help but still get my school work done.
Along with the wedding stress, I was also really having a lot of stress about school. It was my first exam this week and my next one is Monday; they're basically back to back. So along with my other work, I have to study which, yeah, I'm a student whatever but it's still hard! I'm not that good with time management. I'm still trying to find ways that work for me and since I commute, I feel like I can't focus that well at home because I'm just tempted to sleep or watch T.V. The documentary I'm watching is on Amazon Prime and it's only letting me view it for 48 hours! So I'm making an executive decision to buckle down and try to get it all done so I can stop renting it. If anyone has advice on stress management or time management anything would help! Luckily though, I managed to successfully complete another week.

Hey Andrea! Your week was super busy, but you got through it! Woohoo! Time-management is very hard, especially on weeks like this past one. For me, I dedicate a few hours every day to chip off assignments and other school-work. Bite sized work sessions with study breaks seem to prevent burnout for me. I also feel it's important to write a to-do list!! Checking off completed tasks is so satisfying to me and keeps me on track for what's important. Also see about spending more time studying on campus on less hectic weeks! I hang out with my friends and we all study together a lot in the student lounge. Hopefully my few suggestions help out with your studies, and congratulations to your cousin's marriage!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Andrea! This reminds me of the week of my sisters wedding, I remember how busy that week was. Time management is a big deal in college, for one of my classes we were required to write out our schedule and almost everything we do. I was able to see how and where you spend your time, it was truly eye opening. I would definitely recommend it in a case like this. Congratulations to your cousin on the wedding!
