healthy life, happy life
With COVID still very much around, everyone is trying to be as healthy as possible. Well, most people. A lot of people think the vaccine makes you immune, so you don't have to wear a mask, but you SHOULD.WEAR.A.MASK! It's kind of like a wake up call for certain people to be more cautious about their lifestyle and health choices. For example, washing your hands multiple times a day, covering your nose and mouth while sneezing/coughing, staying in the house while you're sick..seems like common sense and things we did before COVID. Enough about that though. I came to talk about my lifestyle.
I know a lot of people like their nic-sticks, but I'm SO happy I never got into it. Seeing some of my friends and cousins fein for it is crazy. I'm grateful that, from a young age, a healthy body and mind was implemented into my household as a normal way to live. The different foods in my culture are very healthy. We eat a lot of garlic, onions, and vegetables. I'm getting my immune system protectors, carbs and all that good stuff. We also have this herbal tea called "yensoon" that helps with an upset stomach that I drink weekly. A yogurty spread called "labne" that I eat everyday for probiotics, which I love! A healthy diet is vital to your whole body just being strong and functioning properly. I also eat a lot of oranges for vitamin C especially during the winter, and to get extra immune support. Getting in fruits, vegetables, and water is the key! Napping and doing self care is also super important; I always make time to get a nap in. Also, when I have a stuffy nose or feel a cold coming, my mom always gets me Vicks vapor rub to put on my chest and bottom of feet. It literally makes you sweat the sickness right out. Does anyone else have any home remedies that they swear by?
A healthy mind is important too. I'm the type of person who has to talk about everything. Whether I act like nothing's wrong or try to give the silent treatment, it all ends up coming out. I think talking about your problems or anything in general helps keep your mind clear and healthy. By speaking on what's bothering you, you can overcome situations, get advice, or support. I bought a book from Target where it gives you prompts, some for fun and others a little more personal, and you write everything down then burn the page. It's like a relief getting to express your feelings then burning it so no one can see. It's almost like these blogs where we come to speak our minds. Honestly, when I don't get enough fruits and water in my diet for the day, or enough time to nap and time for myself, I feel off. It's definitely important to keep your mind and body healthy to keep yourself up and running! Those were just a couple of tips I have on trying to live a healthier life, I would love to hear anybody else's thoughts or routines they follow too!
